Prinsius rosenkrantzii Perch-Nielsen, 1979 NB In a note in the INA Newsletter (NINA 2/1 p.34, 1980) van Heck states that "According to K. Perch-Nielsen, this species [P. rosenkrantzii] is a junior synonym (by a few months) of Biscutum tenuiculum Okada & Thierstein 1979".

Taxonomic discussion: This species has been included in P. dimorphosus by some workers, and previously on Nannotax, but these circular forms appear to be consistently separable from elliptical P. dimorphosus.

Distinguishing features: Very small to small circular to subcircular placoliths with narrow, but distinct, central opening (‘bullseye’).

Size: Type material 1.4-4 µm; Perch-Nielsen (1985) describes it as being larger (4-6µm).

Last occurrence (top): within NP4 zone (61.51-63.25Ma, top in Selandian stage). Data source: Perch-Nielsen (1985)
