Variants: Arkhangelskiella specillata ethmopora Bukry, 1969 / Arkhangelskiella ethmopora (Bukry) Cepek and Hay, 1969 - differs from A. specillata in presence of grills in the pores. However, Verbeek (1977) regarded presence/absence of grills as a preservational feature and so regarded the two varieties as synonyms.
Notes & discussion: The division of Arkhangelskiella into forms with <=5 perforations per quadrant (A cymbiformis) vs >5 perforations per quadrant (A. specillata) is broadly followed by e.g. Perch-Nielsen (1985 figs. 15 & 17). However, the Varol (1989) & Burnett (1997) scheme of using size and rim width is more widely used, on this basis A. specillata is a variant/junior synonym of A. cymbiformis.
