Distinguishing features: Braarudosphaera with stellate outline due to diamond-shaped segments and therefore indentations where the sutures meet the lith edge.


Morphology remarks: May include liths that are tall. Such tall pentaliths are common in the Eocene but have rarely been documented in the Cretaceous; the best known were published by Lambert (1986), who documented spectacular specimens from the upper Albian of Cameroon.

Geological Range:
Last occurrence (top): in mid part of UC4a subzone (50% up, 94.5Ma, in Cenomanian stage). Data source: Burnett 1998, fig. 6.2
