Calcicalathina

Classification: Mesozoic -> Eiffellithales -> Rhagodiscaceae -> Calcicalathina
Sister taxa: Calcicalathina, Percivalia, Rhagodiscus, Zebrashapka,

Distinguishing features: Muroliths (loxolith type) with high, narrow rim and wide central-area filled by a large, domed, granular mass.

Daughter taxa: (blue => in age window 0-800Ma)
Calcicalathina with narrow rim and central-area filled by a layered, granular mass. Seen in plan and side view. Layered central area structure is distinctive in XPL. Overall height is highly variable.
Like C. erbae but with central granular protrusion not extending to the ends of the coccolith
Calcicalathina with a low central area showing sharp distinction between rim (1st order yellow birefringence) and coarsely-granular central area
Calcicalathina with high, narrow rim and wide central-area filled by a large, domed, granular mass. Seen in plan and side view.
