Campylosphaera dela

Classification: Coccolithophores -> Coccolithales -> Coccolithaceae -> Campylosphaera -> Campylosphaera dela
Sister taxa: C. dela, C. differta, C. eodela, C. eroskayi, C. sp.,

Taxonomy:

Citation: Campylosphaera dela (Bramlette & Sullivan, 1961) Hay & Mohler, 1967
Rank: Species
Basionym: Coccolithites delus Bramlette & Sullivan, 1961
Variants: Campylosphaera eodela Bukry & Percival 1971; smaller forms with narrow central areas largely filled by the axial cross
Synonyms:
Notes & discussion: Variable in size (5-10 µm), outline and central area width, but do not fall easily into separate classes. Broad increases in size and ‘squareness' through Zone NP9.

Distinguishing features: Narrow rimmed, arched placoliths with axial cross-bars.
