Classification: ntax_cenozoic -> Nannolith families inc sed -> Ceratolithaceae -> Ceratolithus -> Ceratolithus apiculus
Sister taxa: C. cristatus, C. nishidae ⟩⟨ C. apiculus, C. armatus, C. atlanticus, C. larrymayeri, C. separatus, C. sp.

Taxonomy:

Citation: Ceratolithus apiculus de Kaenel & Bergen, in de Kaenel et al. 2017
Rank: species
Taxonomic discussion: This is clearly part of the C. armatus group but Blair et al. (2017) document it as being restricted to zone NN12 whereas the other morphotypes extend into NN13/14, and so it may be worth distinguishing.

Distinguishing features: Like C. armatus but with short horns and wide, triangular, apical spine.
