Distinguishing features: Small (4-5 µm), bicyclic, with about 14 birefringent central area bars merging to form a central longitudinal bar/structure.

Distinguishing features: Small (4-5 µm), bicyclic, with about 14 birefringent central area bars merging to form a central longitudinal bar/structure.

Morphology remarks: C. maculosus is differentiated from Clepsilithus polystreptus Crux, 1987, by its well developed inner rim cycle and greater number of central bars (that are differently constructed), and from Cretarhabdus inaequalis, by its more regular arrangement of central bars.
