Cretarhabdus striatus

Distinguishing features: Medium to large Cretarhabdus with distinctive wide central net that includes narrow axial cross bars and multiple narrow lateral bars. The bars of the net are birefringent.

Synonyms:
Notes & discussion: Wise (1983) argued that the taxon illustrated by Stradner (1963) was an Arkhangellskiellid not a Cretarhabdid and proposed the new combination Crucicribrum striatum striatum (Stradner 1963) Wise 1983 based on this interpretation. He further reccomended that the name Cretarhabdus loriei should be used for the morphotypes referred to by previous authors as C. striatus.
Stradner et al. (2010, p.57) reillustrated the holotype (colour LM image in gallery above) and it seems clear from this illustration that it is a cretarhabdid. So, the traditional taxonomic usage of Cretarhabdus striatus seems appropriate; the alternative combination Crucicribrum striatum should be avoided, and C. loriei should regarded as a junior synonym of C. striatus.
