Distinguishing features: Square-shaped loxolith cococoliths with cross bars that run parallel to the coccolith sides.


Morphology remarks: The type species, D. rectus, has a square-shaped loxolith rim but is probably not closely related to similarly-shaped Stephanolithiaceae coccoliths, which have previously been included in the genus.
