Distinguishing features: Stellate nannoliths with 6-11 imbricate rays. Small subsidiary cycles and spines may be present.


Daughter taxa: (blue => in age window 0-800Ma)
Small stellate nannolith with 6-8 rays, which may be long when well preserved.
Small compact nannolith with 9-11 short free rays of variable size. The ouline is typically irregular.

Notes & discussion: Morphologies range from typical irregular, multirayed H. irregularis forms, to more regular six and seven rayed forms comparable with H. albiensis.
