Taxonomy:

Citation: Lucianorhabdus compactus (Verbeek, 1976) Lees, 2007
Rank: Species
Basionym: Isocrystallithus compactus Verbeek, 1976
Synonyms:
Notes & discussion: Owenia hillii is very similar and was regarded as a junior synonym of L. compactus by Bown et al. (1998) and Bown & Cooper (1998). Lees (2007) however regards them as  separate species.
Arguably L. compactus is a junior synyonym of L. maleformis

Morphology remarks: Similar to L. cayeuxii but shorter and so base more prominent. Typically used for specimens with the base <10 µm long
