Micrantholithus flos

Classification: Coccolithophores -> Braarudosphaerales -> Braarudosphaeraceae -> Micrantholithus -> Micrantholithus flos
Sister taxa: M. angulosus, M. astrum, M. attenuatus, M. bramlettei, M. breviradiatus, M. bulbosus, M. crenulatus, M. disculus, M. entaster, M. excelsus, M. flos, M. hebecuspis, M. minimus, M. mirabilis, M. pinguis, M. tinus, M. vesper, M. sp.,

Taxonomy:

Citation: Micrantholithus flos Deflandre in Deflandre & Fert, 1954
Rank: Species
Synonyms: Braarudosphaera undata Stradner 1959
Micrantholithus truncus Bramlette & Sullivan 1961 [my interpretation JRY 2015]
Notes & discussion: Comparable with Micrantholithus hoschulzii (Reinhardt, 1966) Thierstein, 1971 described from the Lower Cretaceous. Originally described in Deflandre 1950, but invalid as no description given so validated in Deflandre & Fert 1954.

Distinguishing features: Micrantholithus with relatively straight edges, sutures often raised
