Sister taxa: P. borealis, P. flabellifera, P. garrisonii, P. weddellensis, P. sp. type 1, P. sp. type 3, P. sp. type 4, P. sp. type 5, P. sp.,

Taxonomy:

Citation: Pappomonas borealis (Manton, Sutherland and McCully 1976) Thomsen & Ostergaard 2014
Rank: Species
Basionym: Pappomonas flabellifera var. borealis Manton, Sutherland and McCully 1976
Notes & discussion: Formerly regarded as a variety of P. flabellifera but elevated to species rank by Thomsen & Ostergaard (2014)

Distinguishing features: Similar to P. flabellifera but calyx blades nearly triangular, 5-9 rows of elements in BCs

Farinacci & Howe catalog pages: Pappomonas flabellifera borealis *

Morphology remarks: Process triangular with serrated end, described from Greenland. AACs may have extended rim elements but no process (JRY - unpubl obs / see images; also Thomsen & Ostergaard 2014)

Ecology & Biogeography: Only known from the Arctic
