Citation: Pontosphaera longiforaminis (Baldi-Beke 1964) de Kaenel & Villa 1996
Rank: Species
Basionym: Discolithus longiforaminis Baldi-Beke 1964
Notes & discussion: In SEM this is a distinctive morphotpye and it seems to be characterisitc of the Early Miocene.  The name Pontosphaera longiforaminis was applied in this sense by de Kaenel & Villa (1996) and this usage is followed here although it is less clear if the holotype of Baldi-Beke exactly correspnods. [JRY 2017]

Distinguishing features: Pontosphaera with central rea protruding above rim, marginal cycle of elongates pores and more irregular central part.
