Distinguishing features: Rim unicyclic, crossbars brighter than rim and each bar behaves as a single crystal unit.

Morphology remarks: A simply-constructed species of Staurolithites wih a distinctively highly-birefringent axial cross. This medium-sized species has a unicyclic murolith rim. An axial cross spans the open central area. The bars of the cross appear to be composed of single blocks of calcite and, in the LM, these are highly birefringent. It is not clear whether the species bears a spine or not. [Burnett 1997]

Size: Holotype dimensions: 4.8 µm long, 3.5 µm wide.
