Distinguishing features: Small (3-4 µm), rim unicyclic, crossbars faint, with bright spine-top


Morphology remarks: "A small species of Staurolithites with an indistinct, unicyclic rim that possesses a dark, thin, axial cross with a delicate spine and a small, distinctively highly birefringent spine-top, visible when the coccolith is rotated away from 0 ̊. Differentiation: This new species is distinguished by its bright spine-top and low-birefringence bars." [Lees 2007]

Size: Holotype dimensions: L = 3.96μm, W = 3.08μm.
