Citation: Conoglobigerina jurassica (Gofman, 1958)
Rank: Species
Basionym: Globigerina jurassica
Taxonomic discussion: The most characteristic feature of this species is the glomerate coiling of the chambers. From Globigerina hauterivica Subbotina our form differs by its more glomerate coiling and higher test. The species is close to the form described by Balakhmatova (1953, Leningrad: Vses. Nauchno-Issled. Geol. Inst. (VSEGEI), Trudy, Pal. Strat., Sbornik Statey) as Globigerina sp. [copied from Chronos database]

Original description: Globigerina jurassica Gofman 1958: Translation from the Russian - Test small, high, consists of three whorls, coiled subglomerately. Test formed by 10-11 chambers, spherical, unevenly increasting in size as added. Last whorl consists of 3-4 chambers of nearly uniform size, tightly appressed. Intercameral sutures nearly straight, weakly depressed. Aperture umbilical, in the form of an elongated slit, slightly visible at the last chamber.

Geological Range:
Last occurrence (top): within Callovian Stage (163.47-166.07Ma, top in Callovian stage). Data source: [copied from Chronos database]
First occurrence (base): within Callovian Stage (163.47-166.07Ma, base in Callovian stage). Data source: [copied from Chronos database]

Plot of occurrence data:

Dec 2017 - Plotting of Neptune data has been re-enabled on the Mesozoic pages following revision of the age-models in Neptune. The data is, however, still very sparse for the Early Cretaceous
