Cassidulina winniana

Type locality: About three feet below top of cut on the east side of State Highways, just north of Dodson, 0.1 mile north of south line of sec.22, T. 13 N., R. 3 W., Winn Parish, La., U.S.A.
Type age: Eocene,
Type sample and level: Claiborne. Cook Mountain formation; calcareous, glauconitic, fossiliferous clay.
Holotype Repository: Baton Rouge; Deposited in the author's collection at Louisiana State University, University, Louisiana, U. S. A.; slide no. 2040.

Notes: Huber et al. (2006) showed that the holotype of winniana is a benthic form referable to Cassidulina. Pearson et al. (2018) list many records of C. winniana in  their synonymy of C. eocaenica. 

Original Description
Test minute, consisting of subglobular chambers, nine chambers being visible from either side; periphery strongly lobulated; chambers very distinct, inflated, in alternating pairs at each side at the periphery; sutures deeply depressed, distinct; wall smooth; aperture an arched slit in the line of coiling.

Size: Breadth of holotype: 0.11 mm.; thickness, 0.08 mm.

This minute species resembles the Miocene species C. chipolensis, but has several more chambers to the coil.
