Citation: Gallitellia Loeblich & Tappan, 1986
Rank: genus
Type species: Guembelitria vivans Cushman, 1934
Taxonomic discussion: All Cretaceous and Paleogene triserial forms posses an asymmetrical aperture with a small toothplate. For this reason we include Jenkinsina in the synonymy of Guembelitria. Gallitellia, however, differs from Guembelitria in more than ornamentation alone. It lacks both the distinct apertural lip found in Guembelitria as well as a toothplate. These differencesappear to be more fundamental. We therefore retain the genus Gallitellia. [Kroon & Nederbragt 1990]

Distinguishing features:

Initially biserial may become multiserial, smooth, microperforate wall; aperture simple (no lip or toothplate).

NB These concise distinguishing features statements are used in the tables of daughter-taxa to act as quick summaries of the differences between e.g. species of one genus.
They are being edited as the site is developed and comments on them are especially welcome.

Diagnostic characters:

Gallitellia is characterized by its smooth, microperforate wall and its simple aperture that lacks a lip or toothplate. Multiserial chamber-proliferation may occur as a gerontic stage.
