Original Description
Translation from the Russian. - Diagnosis. Test small, inflated, a low trochoid : peripheral margin compressed, broadly rounded, lobate. There are two whorls in the spire, the early whorl occupies less of the test, in the later whorl there are 4-4 1/2 chambers.
Description. - Test small, inflated. a low trochoid, somewhat flattened bilaterally; peripheral margin lobate, compressed, rounded. On the dorsal side, which is weakly [or] not convex, two whorls of the spire are developed, the chambers of the earlier whorl rise slightly or almost not at all above the later chambers, and their dimensions very slowly and gradually increase; the chambers of the later whorl are inflated and rapidly increase in size, the apertural chamber is large and strongly inflated. In the outer whorl there are 4-4 1/2 chambers, which are slightly compressed along the peri pheral margin and divided by deep. almost straight septal sutures. On the thick ventral side there are 4-4 1/2 chambers, inflated, not of the same size, they enlarge toward the apertural end and around the deep umbilicus. Aperture extends from the umbilicus along the septal suture of the last chamber as a semilunate opening. Wall calcareous, vitreous, surface covered by fine perforations.
Size: Dimensions. - Greatest diameter 0.15 mm., least diameter 0.1 3 mm., thickness 0.08 mm.

Variability. - A variable feature is the greater or lesser elevation of the early whorl over the later one, even in juvenile forms.
Comparative remarks. - This differs from Clobigerina tarchanensis Subbotina and Chutskaya. described from the deposits of the Tarkhan Horizon of the Northern Caucasus, by the lower number of whorls and o f chambers, the fact that the earlier whorl of the spire takes up less of the test, by the fact that the dorsal side is less trochoid, and by the lack of a lip at the aperture.
