Classification: pf_mesozoic -> Schackoinidae -> Leupoldina -> Leupoldina hexacamerata
Sister taxa: L. cabri, L. hexacamerata, L. pustulans, L. quinquecamerata, L. reicheli, L. sp.,

Taxonomy

Citation: Leupoldina hexacamerata (Verga and Premoli Silva, 2002)
Rank: Species
Basionym: Leupoldina pustulans hexacamerata
Taxonomic discussion: This subspecies displays a little morphological variability confined to (a) the subglobular shape of the first chambers in the last whorl, and (b) the presence of bifurcation also in the penultimate chamber. [copied from Chronos database]

Type images:

Original description: Test medium to large, slightly trochospiral, evolute; 2-2.5 to 3 whorls; 6 chambers in the last whorl increasing gradually and slowly in size, predominantly pyriform in shape throughout; short, radial prolongations, bearing a single subspherical ampulla except the last one or two bifurcate (rarely trifurcate) chambers which bear two or exceptionally three ampullae; these ampullae exhibit different size and grow asymmetrically with respect to the coiling plane; equatorial periphery strongly stellate; sutures radial, depressed, straight; umbilical area shallow and rather large; aperture straddling the periphery as a low asymmetrical arch bordered by a lip. Wall microperforate, nonmuricate.

Plot of occurrence data:

Dec 2017 - Plotting of Neptune data has been re-enabled on the Mesozoic pages following revision of the age-models in Neptune. The data is, however, still very sparse for the Early Cretaceous
