Taxonomy

Citation: Planoheterohelix paraglobulosa (Georgescu & Huber, 2009)
Rank: Species
Basionym: Globoheterohelix paraglobulosa

Type images:

Original description: Test is biserial throughout. The large proloculus (31-56 microns) is followed by six to eight globular chambers, which increase slowly in size as added. Second chamber is smaller than the proloculus. Sutures are distinct, straight to slightly oblique, depressed. Aperture is an interiomarginal, low- to medium-high symmetrical arch bordered by lateral imperforate rims and an imperforate band in the central part. Chamber surface displays closely spaced continuous or discontinuous fine (2.5-3.3 microns) costae. Intercostal spaces are commonly narrower than the width of the costae. Test wall is calcitic, microperforate to finely perforate with pore diameter ranging 0.7-1.1 microns. Pores are intercostal or occasionally penetrate costae.

Geological Range:
Last occurrence (top): within D. concavata zone (86.71-89.91Ma, top in Coniacian stage). Data source: [copied from Chronos database]
First occurrence (base): within R. cushmani zone (94.03-95.94Ma, base in Cenomanian stage). Data source: [copied from Chronos database]

Plot of occurrence data:

Dec 2017 - Plotting of Neptune data has been re-enabled on the Mesozoic pages following revision of the age-models in Neptune. The data is, however, still very sparse for the Early Cretaceous
