Original Description
Diagnosis. - Turborotalita comprises those membersof the subfamily Globorotaliinae, family Globigerinidae (see Banner and Blow, 1959), which possess aprimary aperture (of umbilical-extraumbilical position) covered by a bulla(see Banner and Blow, 1959, p. 26): the bulla possesses accessory apertures at its suture with the ventral sides of the primary chambers of thelast whorl. The bulla may take the apparent form of a modified finalchamber (often with reduced pore-size). which spreads ventrally partially or wholly to conceal the ventral umbilicus. The accessory apertures may or may not be situated at the ends of tunnel-like extensions from the main body of the bulla, and they may or may not be restricted by lips. No supplementary sutural apertures are present. No peripheral true carinae are known.

Editors' Notes
Remarks. - This genus is distinguished from Globigerinita Bronnimann by the umbilical-extraumbilical extent of the primary aperture. It is distinguished from Globorotalia (Turborotalia) by possessing a bulla and accessory apertures. Globigerina cristata Heron-Alien and Earland, 1929 (lectotype selected and figured by Banner and Blow, 1960), and Globigerinita parkerae Loeblich and Tappan, 1957, are referable to this genus.

The following species were included in Turborotalita by Blow and Banner in 1962:
Turborotalita humilis (Brady) = Truncatulina humilis Brady, 1884.
Turborotalita cristata (Heron-Alien and Earland) = Globigerina cristata Heron-Alien and Earland, 1929.
Turborotalita parkerae (Loeblich and Tappan) = Globigerinita parkerae Locblich and Tappan, 1957.
