Editors' Notes
[Campbell [1954, p.D114] considers Elaphospyris Haeckel, 1881a to be an objective synonym of Giraffospyris Haeckel, 1881a. He designates Ceratospyris heptaceros Ehrenberg, 1873a as the type species of Giraffospyris and only by inference of Elaphospyris. Therefore, we consider the type species designation of Ceratospyris heptaceros Ehrenberg to date from Chediya, 1959, p.180.]
