Original Description
Shell double, consisting of a large outer cylindrical shell "closed" at the top by four bars, to which is attached a small, bell-shaped inner shell with two prominent apical spines. The four bars connecting inner and outer shell become incorporated in the lattice of the latter. Pores of inner shell generally much smaller than those of outer shell. Pores of outer shell irregular or very approximately triangular or quadrangular, very large; bars circular in cross section. Pores of inner shell triangular or quadrangular, larger in upper exposed part (and with more robust intervening bars) than in the lower, enclosed part. Two prominent upwardly directed spines, one at each end of the median bar at apex of shell. One or more upwardly and outwardly directed spines arise from each of the four large rays in the region where they bend downward. The outer shell bears a few small spines, some of which are continuous with bars joining inner and outer shells. Spines thin, acute, with slightly rough surface texture.

(Based one almost complete specimen and 16 fragments). Total length of skeleton 4.0 mm. Total breadth (across upper bar) 1.2-1.6 mm. Breadth of inner shell (across upper bar) 0.4-0.6 mm. Length of apical spines 0.2-0.7 mm. Diameter of pores of inner shell 20-270µm, of those of outer shell l60-730µm. Distinguishing characters (rw): This species differs from 0. simplex in possessing two shells.
