Original Description
Shell globular with nine primary radial spines originating in a five-gated microsphere and formed of systems of three complex girdles of which the second is a triangular bipyramid and the third a hexagon whose corners represent cupolas lying in the principal plane of symmetry.
Etymology: From the Greek penta = five and pyle = gate. Neuter gender.
