Original description: Polycystinum compositum e Calodictyis. Testa silicea spongiacea complanata obsolete radialo-stellata. Discus meditis spongiaceus et radii stellati apice tumescentes inermesque crusta spongiacea obvelati, distinctu difficiles.

Ad Dictyocorynam. proxime accedens, pallio a corpore non discreto, sed cum eo confluente differt. Species unica Spongaster Tetras ex abysso Californiae.


Translated description: Composite polycystin of the Calodictya. Siliceous test spongy, flattened, obsoletely radiate-stellate. Median disc spongy, and the stellate radii swollen at the apex and unarmed, covered by a spongy layer, difficult to distinguish.

Very closely resembling Dictyocoryne, with outer layer not separate from the body, but differs with its confluence. Single species Spongaster tetras. from the floor of the Sea of California. (Translated rom Latin by E.M.R. and W.R.R.)]
