Original Description Outline circular or star-shaped. Discoaster in cross-section plate or umbrella-shaped, composed of radially arranged large crystal units, sometimes enclosing a proximal column. In plan view no birefringence present, with the exception of a few species, where only the proximal column shovvs a strong birefringence.
