Original Description

Caractères du genre type Goniolithus Defl. Par suite de ses caractères singuliers, le genre Goniolithus ne trouve place dans aucune des familles connues. Je crée donc pour lui al famille nouvelle des Goniolithida. Provisoirement cette famille se situera dans l'Ordre des Heliolithe, reliant peut-être celui-ci à l'Ordre des Ortholithe (analogie de forme avec Braarudosphaera, analogie de structure avec certains Discoaster).
