Taxonomy:

Citation: Acanthoica acanthifera Lohmann 1912 ex Lohmann, 1913
taxonomic rank: Species
Synonyms: Acanthoica monospina Schiller 1925 [cf. Kleijne 1992]

Distinguishing features:
Parent taxon (Acanthoica): Body coccoliths with well-developed radial lath cycle, low mound in centre; coccospheres polymorphic, usually some coccoliths with well-developed spines
This taxon: Like A. quattrospina but lamellar cycle forms hollow protrusion.
