Taxonomy:
The trumpet-like spines suerpficially resemble those of Discosphaera, but the base lacks a radial cycle and he sine strucutre is different. Instead the spwcies placed in Palusphaera since it is monomorphic (all coccoliths have spines), the radial cycle is missing and the element rows show the same sense of curvature as the other Palusphaera species.
