Taxonomy:

Citation: Vexillarius Jordan & Chamberlain, 1993
Taxonomic rank: genus
Type species: Vexillarius cancellifer Jordan & Chamberlain, 1993
Synonyms:

Distinguishing features:
Parent taxon (Papposphaeraceae): Narrow-rimmed muroliths, mostly with prominent central structures.
This taxon: Coccosphere dimorphic. CFCs (and some dispersed liths) with quadrate central process supported by transverse bar.
BCs open or with concetric/longitudinal bars.

Morphology:

Process is capped by a quadrate structure formed of four laths. Detailed description is given by Jordan & Chamberlain (1992) and species are discussed in  Andruleit & Jordan 2017
