Citation: Wigwamma arctica Manton et al., 1977taxonomic rank: SpeciesVariants: In material from the northern hemisphere each wigwam rod is attached to an enlarged crystallite in the rim, as a result the coccoliths have a pentagonal profile. Specimens from the Weddell Sea are triangular in profile since the rim crystallites where each wigwam rod is attached are not enlarged.
Distinguishing features: Parent taxon (Wigwamma): Coccoliths hoop-shaped with rods rising from rim to form wigwam-like structure This taxon: Monomorphic, all liths with wigwam of 4 rods.
