rotula type

Classification: ntax_cenozoic -> Syracosphaerales -> Syracosphaeraceae -> Syracosphaera -> SY molischii gp -> rotula type
Sister taxa: borealis type, halldalii type, molischii type, rotula type

Daughter taxa (time control age-window is: 0-800Ma)
Syracosphaera ampliora
BCs - flange sutures kninked, XCs elliptical, spoked
Syracosphaera rotula
BCs - flange sutures oblique; XCs large, wheel-like

Citation: rotula type Young et al., 2003
Rank: species sub-group
Taxonomic discussion: The grouping of these two species was suggested by the discovery of XCs on S. ampliora, it is supported by the absence of CFCs on these two species and their rather similar BCs.

Distinguishing features: XCs wheel-like, with radial laths well-separated, spoke-like. BCs and XCs both show distinct chirality. CFCs not differentiated.
