Taxonomy:
Distinguishing features:
Parent taxon (borealis type): XCs elliptical discs, with a narrow rim, central part without conical depression. CFCs not differentiated.
This taxon: BCs with narrow, fluted, distal flange; XCs smooth elliptical discs with parenthesis shaped openings
Farinacci & Howe catalog pages: S. pemmadiscus *
Morphology:
Chang (2013) describes the coccosphere as having two types of exothecal coccoliths - curved planoliths as seen at top right of the holotype coccosphere and muroliths as seen at bottom left. The putative exothecal murolith may, however, be a damaged body coccolith.
