Distinguishing features: Like S. delphix, but smaller (<8 µm) and with short spine

Morphology: Like S. delphix but smaller and with short spine.

Size: The spine is short, approximately 1/2 of the total length of the specimen (spine to specimen length ration is 0.46–0.57). Proximal cycle width ca 1.5–2.0x lateral cycle width. The proximal surface is concave. L = 2.2–5.4 µm; W = 2.6–5.4 µm (holotype: 5.2 µm x 5.2 µm). [Bergen et al 2017]
