Synonyms:

Taxonomic discussion: This species has had a rather confused taxonomic history. Romein (1979) recombined it into Discoaster but this made it a junior homonym of Discoaster bramlettei Martini 1958, hence he introduced the alternative name Discoaster drieverii Romein 1980. Young & Bown (2014) recombined the species into Bomolithus, thus making the alternative name drieveri spurious.

Distinguishing features: Similar to B. megastypus but fewer rays and inner cycle less elevated

Size: 7.5-8.5µm with 17-21 rays, according to Bown (2016)

Phylogenetic relations: Has been considered the ancestor of Discoaster (Romein 1979, Agnini et al. 2007).
