Taxonomic discussion: Possibly related to C. atlanticus, which has highly variable morphology and similar stratigraphic range. Also rather similar to C. armatus in shape of apical area.

Distinguishing features: Delicate ceratolith with thin arms and apical spine; featureless surface.
