Taxonomic discussion: Clausicoccus species have been broadly differentiated using the width of the central area and number of plate perforations. C. subdistichus is a small species with around one cycle of perforations.

Distinguishing features: Small Clausicoccus with narrow central area typically equal to the rim width.
