Original description: Cellulae sine membrana cellularum, ellipsoideae vel irregulariter rotundato-triangulares, inter- dum reniformes, dorso-ventraliter complanatae, 5-8- 12 μm longae, 6- 8 μm latae, 4-5 μm crassae, sulco ventrali longitudinali, in muco stratoso viventes. Chromatophorus unicus, parietalis, brunneus, sine pyrenoide et stigmate. Cytoplasma hyalinum granulis ellipticis duobus conspicuis, 2- 3,5 μm longis, 1- 2 μm Iatis et vacuola contractili una instructum. Zoosporae dorso-ventraliter complanatae ± ellipticae vel ovatae, asymmetricae, 7-10-12 μm longae, 5-9 μm latae, 3-5 μm crassae, flagellis binis sine ma.stigonematibus, valde unaequalibus et haptonemate brevi, ventraliter insertis. Chromatophorus unicus, parietalis, pyrenoide et stigmate carens. Cytoplasma vacuolis contractilibus duobus instructum. Cellula granulis ellipticis conspicuis duobus in parte posteriore sitis.

Morphology: Motile cells are ovate with a parietal brown-green plastid. The anterior flagellum is hairy and is covered by clavate knob scales and the posterior flagellum with a slight distal attenuation is naked. Cells are sometimes elongate. A layer of eyespot globules is present on the external face of the plastid, near the flagellar insertion. A pyrenoid is not present. The plastid presents a simple parallel arrangement of thylakoid lamellae. A pulsate vacuole seems to be connected to the flagellar pit. [Bendif et al. 2011]
