Sister taxa: Bomolithus, Heliolithus

Daughter taxa (time control age-window is: 0-800Ma)
Heliolithus aktasii
Two relatively thick cycles of similar diameter.
Heliolithus bukryi
Heliolith with two birefringent cycles: a broad, thin cycle and a thin, much narrower cycle, around 1/3 of the width of the wider cycle.
Heliolithus cantabriae
Heliolith with a broad, thin cycle and a taller, narrower cycle. The narrower cycle is over 3/4 of the width of the wider cycle.
Heliolithus kleinpellii
Large, heliolith with two thin birefringent cycles. The narrow cycle is around 3/4 of the width of the wider cycle.
Heliolithus knoxii
Heliolith with two birefringent cycles: a broad, thin cycle and a tall, narrower cycle, around half of the width of the wider cycle.
Heliolithus riedelii
Heliolith with two high, birefringent cycles, the narrower cycle is around two thirds of the width of the broader.
Heliolithus sp.
Specimens which cannot be assigned to any established species
