Taxonomy:
Distinguishing features: Small, elliptical with open central area spanned by broad transverse bar (dark at 0°)

Morphology: Small, elliptical holococcolith with narrow rim and broad bar that almost fills the central area; the bar is dark at 0° and birefringent at 45°.
Differentiation: Similar to H. serus but is more regular in outline and shows no perforations. [Bown & Newsam 2017]
Size: Holotype L = 3.9μm (Paratype L = 3.9μm).
