Taxonomy:
Distinguishing features: Murolith coccoliths with simple rim, partially calcified specimens show beaded ultrastructure.

Phylogenetic relations: The genus Jomonlithus was described from a similar coastal environment to the Pleurochrysidaceae and Hymenomonadaceae and it is similar in basic morphology although the coccolith structure seems different. Its placement in the Hymonomonadaceae is based on molecular genetics data (Sa_ez et al., 2004).
