Morphology: Coccosphere dimorphic, small cell and very long spines. Coccolith types
Body coccoliths: narrow circular to elliptical rim, with a diagonally orientated central-cross formed of narrow bars and a slender central spine
Spine cocccoliths: circular muroliths with thin flaring rim, a central cross and a very long central spine.

Size: Coccospheres (excluding spines) 4.5-7µm with 50-70 coccoliths; BCs 1.2 to 1.8 µm; Spines 10-20µm.

Ecology & Biogeography: deep photic (sub-thermocline/deep chlorophyll maximum)
