Microrhabdulus

Classification: ntax_mesozoic -> Nannoliths inc sedis -> Microrhabdulaceae -> Microrhabdulus
Sister taxa: Lithraphidites, Microrhabdulus, Pseudomicula, Singanoa

Distinguishing features:
Parent taxon (Microrhabdulaceae): Rod-shaped nannoliths.
This taxon: Rod-shaped nannoliths with (sub)circular cross-section and complex construction from systematically arranged laths, commonly creating a "chequered" LM image.

Daughter taxa (time control age-window is: 0-800Ma)
Microrhabdulus belgicus
Microrhabdulus tapering toward both ends and with rings of nodes.
Microrhabdulus decoratus
Nearly parallel sided for most of length, in cross-polars shows chequerboard extinction
Microrhabdulus helicoideus
Microrhabdulus tapering toward both ends and with spiral structure.
Microrhabdulus undosus
Similar to M. decoratus but formed of undulating laths and extinction less regular
Microrhabdulus sp.
