Taxonomic discussion: Can be very abundant in post-K/T-boundary-extinction assemblages. Inconspicuous in XPL, although narrow tube cycle is slightly birefringent. Best viewed in phase contrast.

Distinguishing features: Very small elliptical placoliths with narrow to closed central area.
