Placorhombus sp. cf. ziveriae

Classification: ntax_cenozoic -> Coccolith families inc sed -> narrow rimmed placoliths -> Placorhombus -> Placorhombus sp. cf. ziveriae
Sister taxa: P. ziveriae, P. sp. cf. ziveriae, P. sp.

Citation: Placorhombus sp. cf. ziveriae Young et al., 2003
Rank: Species

Distinguishing features: striae on end plates sub-parallel to coccolith length

Farinacci & Howe catalog pages:

Morphology: Similar to P. ziveriae but; the coccoliths are slightly smaller (1.6-1.9 µm vs. 1.9-2.4 µm), the striae are closer spaced (0.03 µm vs. 0.05 µm), and the striae on the end plates are aligned sub-parallel to the long axis of the coccolith.

Size: Coccoliths 1.6-1.9 µm
