Original description: Cells solitary, free-swimming, elongate, slightly com pressed, with two unequal flagella and a short haptonema. The longer anterior flagellum with fine non-tubular hairs and rows of minute spherical or clavate bodies; posterior flagellum vestigial. A pit or canal penetrating the cell near the long anterior flagellum. Chloroplast single, pale yellow-green, stigma absent.
