Classification: ntax_mesozoic -> Stephanolithiales -> Stephanolithiaceae -> Stoverius
Sister taxa: Cylindralithus, Darwinilithus, Rotelapillus, Stephanolithion, Stoverius, Stradnerlithus ⟩⟨ Corollithion, Rhombolithion, Truncatoscaphus ⟩⟨ Paralithella, Rectocorona, Thurmannolithion

Distinguishing features:
Parent taxon (Stephanolithiaceae): Murolith (protolith type) coccoliths with rims of non-imbricate V-units and weakly-developed, or vestigial, proximal/inner-cycles (R-units), with central-areas spanned by one to numerous bars.
This taxon: Narrowly elliptical to circular; rim low, bicyclic; central area wide, spanned by cross bars.

Daughter taxa (time control age-window is: 0-800Ma)
Stoverius achylosus
Coccoliths with low, elliptical to circular protolith rim with wide central area spanned by spanned by cross bars that meet at a high angle. Rim image is bicyclic in XPL.
Stoverius acutus
Narrow, elliptical rim with low angle diagonal cross bars.
Stoverius coangustatus

Stoverius protosignum
Narrow, elliptical, bicyclic murolith rim with narrow axial cross bars.
