Taxonomy:
Distinguishing features: Coccoliths with area inside tube almost filled by concentric walls, distal surface ornamented by 10-15 pyramidal bosses.

Phylogenetic relations: The affinities of this species are not sure, and it has not been observed by light microscopy. The structure looks similar to Zygosphaera, especially Z. marsilii, but it is monomorphic whilst Zygosphaera species all have well-differentiated CFCs, and there is no central ridge. So rather tentatively, it is left here.
